Wiring Question For Portable Boat Lighting
Hello,
I am looking for help in two ways if possible...
Firstly, I am looking to identify the type of bulb shown in the photos I am adding... I believe I have seen this type bulb in fixtures from IKEA, but want to identify so I can actually locate some.
Secondly, I am looking to wire them up to a sort of stick mount as also shown in the example photos.... I am looking to be able to mount them temporarily from fishing rod holders, so I would like to mount them to the end of say a dowel, or hollow tube where I can internally wire them.
Also, would it be possible to power these with DC, as say with a battery which I can attach to the same pole??
I am basically looking for a stick with this bulb powered on the end, and the more portable the better.
If you could possibly provide a parts list that would be great, not sure if I would need a ballast etc...

Choose a 12VDC bulb and you can fab any fixture and use it safely. No way I would use 120VAC bulbs on a boat.
You could re-purpose flashlight reflectors, driving/fog lights, tractor lights, landscaping lights...there are 12V bulbs that look like your example that have a reflector and lens in a sealed assembly. You would just need to find the correct base to plug them into or modify an existing fixture.

BTW there are some inexpensive off-road lights in very small "bullet" housings that use the MR11 bulbs I linked. I bought a set a couple years ago off eBay at a nice made-in-China price.
