Replacing garage Carter 3-Way

I need to remove a carter (neutral switching) 3-way system from my garage, I have 10-3 UF-B between the house and the garage, my plan is to use a 120vac relay powered by a switch in the house over the red wire in the cable which will function just like a 3-way switch would, I'm wondering if my plan looks good or if I should use 2 relays and a single pole switch instead of a 3 way switch on garage wall.

the green line just separates the house from garage

Three-Way

Try connecting the circuit through from the house to the garage without a switch. Install an X10 switch at the house and garage to control the light from either location.

I do not want to use X-10 for this. They are not very attractive and I have a single gang-2 device switch which I don't think is available with X-10
