shallow receptacle box
off main kitchen I have 25" wide counter that needed receptacle. This was going to be wider area and I had left 2 pieces of wire for two receptacles before drywall was finished. The two boxes would have worked fine in wider area and no stud interfering. But when I tried to center one box, I ended up hitting a stud. This is small wall cavity and the stud is turned sideways. There is actually two sheets of drywall so I have 1" depth to stud on the left. And like 2.5" to the right of stud. Any special box that I can fit in here? 1 " box 2x4 would be a little small for 12/2 and device (box fill of 9). I don't want to patch up drywall and turn it vertical because of work involved and rest of receptacles are horizontal. Since this is only stud that wall cabinet is attached to, I don't want to cut it out.

Too late now but you are supposed to install electrical boxes before putting up drywall.
You will have to cut out more on the right then patch the area in front of the stud.

the reason I didn't was because the cabinet layout was not completely set and may change, as it did. If I had mounted boxes where they were going to originally, one would now be partially covered behind my double wall oven. The designer designed it too tight and due to the walls not being plumb and the space being less than any measurement that was taken, I had to switch the cabinets and get smaller ones, which shifted everything. This wire is not currently hot of course.
Hubbell i think has 1" deep steel box. I have to get better look at it to see if I can make it work. a 4" wide box off center in a large room is not even noticeable. A 4" wide box 2" off center in a 25" wide space looks unprofessional to me, but that is just the OCD speaking. Have to think about just notching the stud. Remember it is sideways so I would be cutting about 1/2 of it. It may be true 2x4 as my house very old and original parts were true rough cut lumber.
maybe I'll design some special boxes for things like this. Shark tank here I come.--kidding

Check out a Raco 404 or 405 box. I'm sure either would fit into that spot with some modification or removal of the mounting strap. Not sure if you could actually fit the receptacle in though. By box fill code you need a box minimum of 2" deep for a "switch box" or 2.5" deep for a gang box, which wouldn't be too big of a deal just to notch the stud.
