Burning smell pull chain lampholder
Hello:
This morning, when I went to attic(it's hot) there was a burning smell that coming from inside 'Pull Chain Lampholder.' The lite(energy saver, 60 W) still working tho'.
Immediately, I turned it off and unscrewed two screws that holding pull chain lampholder trying to examine an origin of burning smell. It appears to me nothing wrong, seeing two wires insides are clean and nothing inside lampholder burning, .... except 'burning smell' lingering, not whole attic, but only vicinity of lampholder.
Any clues on this would be truly appreciated.

If the wiring appears ok then possibly the socket itself is defective. Sometimes the center pin contact gets fatigued from heat and age and doesn't make a solid connection with the bulb.
Probably best to replace it. I'd also opt for one of the porcelain ones instead of the plastic ones.
If it's not a standard incandescent bulb then it may use a ballast and that could be the source of the smell also.
