tankless electric water heater

Just bought an eco smart 8 TWH. The instructions call for a 40 amp double pole breaker and #8 wire. The unit has a #8 wire coming out but my electrician said something about China (where it's made) undersizing their wire so he ran a #6 wire from the 40 amp breaker to a quick disconnect where it meets with the #8. I'm an amateur that knows just enough to be dangerous. Is this alright? Will it damage the unit? Will it pass inspection? Thanks

Larger wire than required is fine.

30 Amp or 50 Amp for Generator

Hi, we have a gasoline generator, has 9375 starting watts, and 7500 running watts. An electrician is installing a transfer switch and doing anything related to get the generator properly set up. The generator has to power hook ups, as follows: 120/240 Volt AC, 30 Amp Twist-Lock Receptacle (NEMA L14-30R) – May be used to supply electrical power for the operation of 120 and/or 240 Volt AC, 30 Amp, single phase 60 Hz electrical loads. OR IT ALSO HAS THIS: 120/240 Volt AC, 50 Amp Twist-Lock Receptacle (NEMA 14-50R) – May be used to supply electrical power for the operation of 120 and/or 240 Volt AC, 50 Amp, single phase 60 Hz electrical loads. The electrician is supplying everything except he asked that we get the power cord. Do you guys think I should go with the 30 Amp or 50 Amp. We will be using the generator in a power outage and will be running a refrigerator, the blower on the gas furnace, some lights, TV, cable DVR, and computer. Would getting a 50 Amp be better, have any benefits? Our electrical panel is 100 amp. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I need to get the cord ASAP. Thanks!Read More

AC adatper and mA rating question

I have a tape recorder without the original AC adapter. But, I know the original AC adapter was rated 12V and 600mA. I have another AC adapter that came with some other device but no longer have that device. The device connector on the cord on this adapterr fits the tape player's power connector. This adapter shows 12V and 1250mA. Can this adapter safely be used witht the tape player? The voltage specs are the same on the tape player and the AC adapter so that part is not an issue. But, what about the mA factor? I found one reference which indicates this adapter could be used.
