Exhaust fan and light wiring

I am trying to install a motion sensor light switch in kitchen. The exuast fan black wire to pig tail 2 black wires and black wire to wall. The pig tail goes to light switch and wall. There is white to white wall. Bare to ground on only one set of wall wires. The side with a red wire. Red to light switch. When i hooked up motion sensor switch i hooked it up like the old switch. This gave me lights always on. What is the order to wire up the exuast fan to a normal switch and the new motion. The motion has two black and two grounds one is green one is bare.

When i hooked it up i left exuast fan switch alone since the black wire came from that switch and the other was red to old switch. Ground to box. When i connected new switch i connectex fed to black , black to black and both grounds to box . I left white alone.

Welcome to the forums! I can't understand anything you said. Can you go back and read your post and tell us what you have exactly? You can post pictures of your switch box with the switches pulled out/power off. http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...your-post.html

I also agree with chandler, I am having a very hard time following your description. Perhaps you can take some pictures and post them so we can see what you see. Also post the make and model of the switch you are trying to install.

Yes it does the fan switch works fine. The light switch works fine with the old switch. But stays always on with the motion switch.

Is it a single 3-conductor cable (red, white, black) going in to the switch box. If yes is this how it was wired?
