Ground Fault Circuit Question

I have two bathrooms and a outside outlet on a ground fault circuit.
I run my pool filter on the outside outlet. A family member plugged a air conditioner into the bathroom outlet while the pool filter was running, blowing the circuit breaker. I tried to reset the push button breaker after unplugging everything but it would trip off immediately.
After two hours I pushed the reset and it's been on since.
Is it normal for there to be a delay to reset the breaker?
Thank you

The breaker was still too overheated to reset. Once it cooled it was able to reset.
