Red Dot 1 lamp holder

I bought this lamp holder from the big orange store.

Red Dot Model # S500EG 1-Lamp Holder with Gasket - Silver

Red Dot 1-Lamp Holder with Gasket - Silver (20-Pack per Case)-S500EG - The Home Depot

The peculiar thing is this fixture has a white and a black conductor coming out of the back of it, no green conductor. I don't understand how you would ground this?
Or is it because it's a metal lamp holder the grounding is the metal and they assume you will connect it to a metal box and you will be grounding the metal box?

That is correct. The metal box will be grounded, therefore the metal lamp holder will be grounded.

Those usually have a small green ground screw inside the neck, where it threads into the box. If it does not have one, that holder can only be used with a metal box.
