Audible switch needed when freezer door open
Hello,
I have a special needs family member that keeps leaving the freezer door open in the garage. I want to make a switch that lights up and makes a non-annoying noise to activate when the freezer door is open. Id like to have it battery operated. I dont know much about electrical concepts and cant afford to have someone make it for me. I have searched for this type of switch and there are plenty things out there to tell me when the temp drops or can text my cell, etc. but I was hoping to build this with a few cheap components from the Shack. Any thoughts?
Thank you

A very basic concept and easy to build. The biggest problem is that you'll need a magnetic contact set and the Shack no longer carries them.
You can buy a basic battery operated self contained door alarm starting around $5.
If you want to try to locate a magnetic switch locally that would work.
I can give you several online places to order them from but shipping may make it not cost effective.
