Joining PVC electrical conduits

Curious, is there any reason I cannot use the PVC cement sold in the plumbing aisle (Rain or Shine, Medium Blue Glue, Heavy Duty...) to joint PVC electrical conduits?

I noticed that the electrical aisle sells a PVC cement, but not sure if it's "specially formulated" for electrical conduits? Also, they don't sell a PVC primer in the electrical aisle, so is a primer needed for joining PVC conduits?

Standard plumbing PVC solvent works fine for electrical PVC. Primer is not required.

Carlon sells a PVC primer for PVC conduit, but I have only seen it used once. It's rare to find it on a job site.
