best way to get new wires to load center?
I'm trying to run a set of new home run wires. I thought I had access to where the existing wires enter the attic, but I don't. What is the right way to do this? I need to get 3 NM 12/2 wires at least to point X. That spot is below a bedroom, about 3 feet through a 2x8 joist cavity from point Y. I have very easy access at point Y in the attic. In addition to the 3 circuits I'm running now, I want the ability to snake additional circuits in the future if necessary without extreme difficulty.

I've thought of two options:
1. Build a drywall box to point X and just run the wires through that. Basically the ceiling would come down by 4" in that spot.
2. Install conduit along the two corners all the way to point Y.
Is there a better option? If option 2 is best, what do I need to do to meet code? For example, does conduit have to terminate at a box? Is plastic or metal better for this application?

Both pipe and wiremold would be a pain in the *ss in that application. I would build a corner box where the face comes off.

Pardon the crude paint work.

I like that idea because I don't have to install junction boxes and deal with grounding. The corner box is drywall on a 2x4 frame? What's the removable cover constructed with?

I would say plywood but I'm not sure if that meets the code for fire stop as it's not a fireproof product.

That's a good question. The joists change direction in this area. I can reach in from the attic at point Y and touch point X. But I can't touch anything closer to the load center wall. All the existing wires are running through a hole in joist X-Y. Maybe what I should do is carefully open up the ceiling from the load center wall to point X and see what's up there.
