Removing Hot Tub Electrical

Electrically ignorant so bear with me...

Will be removing a hot tub from our deck. Looking for the easiest and safest way to remove the 240v line. It's on a dedicated circuit at the main and then to a 50amp disconnect. Where and how should I terminate it to keep it all safe? No plans to use the line anytime soon.

Thanks for your help,
Dave

Disconnect it in the main panel and all is safe. I wouldn't remove the disconnect or the feeder to the disconnect.

Just to add to Joe's recommendations..... remove the cable or conduit that goes from the disconnect to the spa but leave the disconnect in place. Get a snap in seal to cover the knockout.

Thanks ya'll. I've never disconnected anything from a main before so I'm a bit leery of the unknown, any best steps?

You don't need to go into the panel. Just turn the breaker off.

Shut off the breaker, lossen the screws holding the wires pull out the wires and install wire nuts on the wires or better yet if you can if the wall is open remove all the old wiring.
If not mark the wires with tape and a label so the next person will know where they went to.
