Lights only work when something plugged into outlet

Hi I recently plugged a vacuum into my outlet and it sparked, now my lights in that room will only work when something is plugged into that outlet...

There is a loose or partially broken connection at that receptacle. The receptacle should be replaced and all of the connections remade in that junction box.

It might have been the technology trying to rewire itself (or at least reroute the power source)

Have you tried removing the outlet and seeing it that works?

Thank you that was my thoughts.... Maybe when something is plugged in it is applying enough pressure to complete the connection. Thanks again

Be very careful when you change that receptacle. I have a different take on the problem.
I feel it may be an open neutral in a multiwire branch circuit.

Be sure to check for voltage as your are pulling out the receptacle. Check from all wires to the box/ground.
