How many 14/2 wire through a single 4-gang knockout/clamp?
I was going to do some work in a 4-gang box. Pulled the decorator plate off, it is an old style bakelite box that was cracked badly. I decided to replace the box. Went to the local hardware store, bought an old-work 4-gang plastic box (CARLON 68-cu in 4-Gang Plastic Old Work Wall Electrical Box).
There are 4 x 14/2 wires that need to enter the box from the top. If I stretch them out across all four openings, then one of them will come up short. My question is, can I put two wires through one of the knockout/clamps?
If not, I will just return the box to the hardware store and get the "new work" box since this has more knockouts closer together (CARLON 55-cu in 4-Gang Plastic New Work Wall Electrical Box). I'd wanted to avoid this because this means knocking out drywall.
Thank you,
Andrew

Unfortunately two, three and four gang boxes come with flapper type cable clamps and only one cable can be in one clamp.
A single gang box uses knockouts and you can run two cables in a knockout.

Thank you PJmax.
I just came across a PDF from Carlon that states the exact same thing. Regarding how many cables can go through a single clamp:
"One. The National Electrical Code section 314.17(c) Exception allows you to put multiple cables through a knockout, but only one is allowed through each clamp."
I found another brand that should work without knocking out drywall (Allied Moulded 9314). It'll just cost about 3x the price.
