Adding bathroom fan/light combo

Have an older house (70 yrs) and need to add a bathroom fan, would like to add a fan/ light combo where current light is. Is that possible on current light wiring? Anything else to be cautious of?

It should be. Did you want separate switches for the fan and light?

Do you have Knob and Tube wiring?

Nope no knob and tube.
And separate switches would be nice but not needed.

In theory I should be able to remove current light and cut hole in ceiling for the light/fan combo and hook it up ?

Yes, but if you want separate switches you will need a new cable or a fan that comes with a special dual switch that sends signals along the switch cable.
