Humidifier wiring

Almost finished installing a new whole house humidifier. Down to the wiring. The humidifier contained 18 AWG wire to connect from the humidistat to the transformer/plug to the motor on the humidifier. I donít have an outlet near the humidifier, so I will install one. I have an open 15A breaker, and lots of 14-2. The only receptacle I have laying around is 20A. Will this all put together be ok?

By code a 15A circuit needs a 15A receptacle. It also needs to be GFCI if this receptacle is in a basement or utility area (which I'm assuming given the furnace is there).

Why not install a single receptacle off of the furnace power or a combo switch receptacle.

Are you sure your humidifier needs the separate 24vac transformer. Some can be powered directly from the furnace.
