Replace a single pole light switch with a dimmer
What I am attempting to do is replace a thirty year old single pole light switch with a dimmer switch. The thing that I could use some guidance with is the way that light switch is wired. There are three black wires connecting to the light switch. Two of these wires are backwired into the light switch and the third is connected to a screw terminal. There is no ground connected to the light switch.

My question is how do I connect the wires from the dimmer switch?

Welcome to the forums.
Remove the top two wires from the switch and combine them. They will go to one dimmer wire.
The bottom wire on the switch goes to the other dimmer wire.
There is a ground connection visible in the box you can connect to.

Very good graphic Ray! And also a very good explanation. Thank you both! I'll give it a shot first thing in the morning.

Thank you!
Thanks again for sharing your expertise and for the quick response. That worked great. The picture below is of the connected dimmer switch.
