Outdoor receptacle not working
In December, I went to plug in Christmas lights in my front outlet. It did not work. I have not had a problem with electrical before. The home was built in 1987 by Pulte. A few things to keep in mind
1. Outlet is not a GFCI
2. The subdivision is on extremely high water table.
3. Electric yard/landscape/pathway light control module used to be in outlet. During a thunderstorm seven yrs ago, home was struck by lightning. Outlet blew off of house onto sidewalk and air conditioner was fried.
An electrician repaired?replaced? outlet, and I haven't had a problem until December. I have not tried back outlets, but none are GFCI, breaker is not tripped.

Welcome to the forums.
With the age of the house it would be hard to believe the outside receptacle(s) weren't GFI protected. We've found GFI receptacles hidden behind shelves and boxes in peoples garages that controlled several receptacles connected to it.
Are you sure you checked GFI receptacles all over the house ?
It is very possible one GFI receptacle has been installed to protect many receptacles.

Had a dead receptacle in the back yard of a large two story house. The owner was amazed when I found it was a GFCI receptacle in a bathroom on the second floor at the front of the house.

The one large condo development I work in was built 20 or so years ago. They put the GFI receptacle in the upper bathroom to control the receptacles in the lower bathroom, in the garage, on the deck and in the basement.

I have looked behind all furniture and discovered that there are only 3 GFCIs in the house. The outlets in the garage and basement are black and in a steel, almost junction box like case. There are 2 GFCIs in the kitchen. One is on island and other next to stove. The only other GFCI is in master bathroom.

Please post a picture of the suspect receptacles. http://www.doityourself.com/forum/li...rt-images.html

I fixed it. The outlet in the master bathroom was not working, I just never put 2 and 2 together. I pressed the button on bathroom outlet and front outlet magically works.
