Fluorescent fixture hookup

I'm replacing an old 4' T12 fluorescent fixture with a new 4' T8. I'm not 100 percent confident about wiring this thing yet. Attaching some pics. Any help appreciated.Name: 20160412_114717.jpg

New fixture

Pics wouldn't load first time. This is the new fixture. Looks like a push on connector on right - not sure how to deal with that.Name: 20160412_114842.jpg

Its hard to tell from the picture but the blue wires with the "push on connector" appears to be unrelated to what you are doing (maybe for running additional bulbs off the ballast?). The ballast has 2 wires tied up the left that are probably for power. You should be able to follow the wiring diagram on the ballast to connect it to your house wiring. If not, you will need to post a better picture of the wiring diagram on the ballast.

The tombstones should have already been wired correctly. The only connections you should have needed to make were to the black and wire from the ballast to the building wires and the building ground.

Maye sure you use a bushing/connector for this hole if you are installing a cable.

Ballast

I asked a contractor who happened to be in the store if I needed a romex bushing and since it's inside the house, he said no.Name: 20160412_171232.jpg

I'm confused. Your first fixtures seem to be single tube but your picture of the ballast is a two tube ballast.

'Fancy' wiring

The thing that's throwing me off is the extra connectors they put in there...maybe they just needed more wire?Name: wiring.jpg

That is confusing. The diagram shows two lamps, but it is a single lamp fixture...far as I can tell.

Is that a new ballast you bought? Does it say for both single or double tube? I can tell you how to wire it by capping and not using one of the wires but not sure if it will work.

The fixture is too narrow to install over a ceiling box.

A cable clamp is needed.

4' 1 Lamp Strip

This is a "4' 1 Lamp Strip" - as it says on the outside of the box which is too narrow to hold anything else, mounted to a wall.
The ballast came installed with the strip.
Not sure what you mean, "insulate to 699 volts".

Ignore the writing. That was just on the diagram I pulled off the internet. I have to say I thought you were converting a T-12 to a T-8 by switching out the ballast. I just read too fast. Okay I looked carefully at the new fixture and is that a black and white wire on the left side of the fixture? If so that goes to house power.

I'd ignore the connector on the blue wires on the right.
