Electrical Switch/Outlet Boxs

I'd like to make a frameless closet so one wall be a sheet of 3/4" plywood. On that wall I;d like to mount a 3 gang outlet box. This means that the box will protrude into the closet 1.5". The question is... Are there any Connecticut electrical codes that prohibit a exposed backside of the box? Thanks for your help.

As long as you provide a means of protection and support for the wiring method, it would be ok. Something like EMT conduit or wiremold can be used in an exposed area.
