Single phase AC motor wiring help

Trying to wire a plug to power my motor but not sure where the red, black, and ground wires connect to. What do you guys think?

The connectors are labelled L1, 2, 4, L2. From top to bottom.

Black goes on L1, White goes on L2 and the green goes on the hex-headed screw that connects to the frame of the motor, just like the label states.

Furd is correct. As the diagram shows, Black (line 1) goes to L1, White (grounded line, AKA Neutral) goes to L2. To change rotation you switch the motor black and and red wires.

Thanks! I tried wiring black to L1 and red to L2 with the ground mounted to the body but it didn't work. With one last attempt I tried switching the two around (red to L1 and black to L2), held my breath, plugged it in, and it fired right up!

thanks for the help guys, i'm no electrician by any means

I don't see black and red in your picture for supply wires. That would indicate 240v.

Reversing the two supply wires, if they were 120v, on the L1 and L2 posts shouldn't make any difference.

Your getting the wires of the motor mixed up with the wires of your cord (supply). Even though the motor works, it might not be working correctly.

The MOTOR wires should be:
For counter clockwise rotation:
Black on terminal #2
Red on terminal #4

For clockwise rotation: (As shown in your picture)
Black on terminal #4
Red on terminal #2

Your supply cord wires should be on:
White (Neutral) on terminal L2
Black (Hot) on terminal L1
