Generator wire size for 50 amp backfeed breaker with interlock
I have an intelock kit and I just need verification on the breaker size to use as the backfeed breaker as well as the wire size.
My current generator is 30 amps but I plan on installing a 50 amp inlet box and wiring for 50 amp to the main panel in case i upgrade down the road. Is a 50 amp breaker as the backfeed in the main panel fine or does it need to be higher?
Is the 6 guage romex fine for the 50 amp ? The run is only a few feet to above the panel.
Thanks

#6 is correct for 50A. Be sure to use a proper generator power inlet for the cord connection from the generator. Do not make up a cord with male plugs on both ends to backfeed a standard 50A outlet.
