battery connected wrong on generator

Hello folks. I have a toy hauler with a built in generator. it is a cumin/onan generator. my generator was running. I had a bad battery hooked to it. I decided to change battery while generator was running(dumb ass). When I put new one in, I connected it backwards.(DUMB ASS) The generator then died. Now it wont start. When I push the starter button it cranks about a half a turn and that's it. Is there a reset button or fuse to protect generator from dumb asses like me. Please help

It would help if you told us specifically what generator your have (model number).

Since you have the generator there... have you looked at it for a control panel, fuse or reset button?

My guess is that it has a fusible link or a diode somewhere around the starter that is burned out. You'll have to open it up and go hunting.
