Spa sub panel melting black substance

Can anyone help me identify what this is, it is a black substance just below the hot wire of my sub panel. It appears to be melting. Nothing has tripped, or is otherwise suspicious. Could someone tell me what it is and what it may mean?Name: image.jpg

Welcome to the forums!

I would suspect it is dielectric grease which is some times installed by the manufacture. You will also see it on the breaker where the breaker connects to the bus. Turn off the panel and inspect it closer with a screw driver and see if it is grease like or hard like plastic that has melted.

BTW - you need to install a connector on your UF cable. Cable should not just be poked through a steel knock out like.
