Weird closet light issue no power?

Ok bought this 2001 manufactured home last year.
Closet pantry light with pull string never worked.
I tried different bulbs an nothing...
So today decided to look into it with my multi meter.
Go nothing, it was 2 sets of wires an didn't know why.
So I left them all Un wound from eachother, turned breaker box back on, then realized I had no kitchen light....
So went over an capped those 2 sets of wires together an it's working again (kitchen light) but still no closet power.

The closet is obviously where the power feeds the kitchen cause the closet is closest to the breaker box.

I'm stumped.... how can I can no power from the feed from breaker box to closet (no power on closet end) but it some how powers the kitchen with working light?

Are you saying in the closet pantry there is a junction box with two sets of wires and one set feeds power to the other? Did you measure for power at the pantry light box when they were connected? If so and got ~120v then the fixture is probably defective. First though try bending up the tab at the bottom of the bulb holder.

I was testing when the 2 wires were disconnected, I just reconnected the 2 wires an go 120+, the fixture was wired up wrong, that's why it never worked. All good now, guess both sets of wires need to be connected together in order to get power. I know nothing about electrical lol
Thank you for your help
