Off grid power production

I saw a video years, ago who powered all his electric needs with a stationary bike connected to some kind of generator/battery set up. Does anybody know how to set something like that up?

Pedal Power! How to Build a Bike Generator

You will likely be disappointed in how little power humans can generate.

We wouldn't have needed to invent electricity if we could do with our bodies what we can do with electric power. A washing machine with a crank would be a much simpler design, but one that I certainly wouldn't want to use.

I remember hand crank ice cream makers. Not worth it.
