I need to run a new 20amp line from my electrical panel in my basement to an outlet on the 1st floor for my microwave. Is it ok to run the new line from the panel to a junction box first, and then up to the outlet? Or is it against code and requires the line to go from the electrical panel all the way to the 1st outlet as a true home run?
It will simply be easier if I can run the line to a junction box first. Nothing else will be running on this circuit other than 1 outlet. I need to close up the wall upstairs so I was thinking I could just wire the microwave outlet and feed the wire down where the junction box will eventually be installed.
Can I safely run the line to a junction box first? Is that ok with standard codes?
Thanks everyone

As long as the junction box is accessible..... it's ok.
I like to write on the junction box cover what the circuit is.
