Question

I AM PRESENTLY REMODELING A 100YR OLD HOUSE AND AM HAVING TROUBLE WITH HOOKING UP CEILING FANS AND LIGHT FIXTURES. I HAVE MANY SITUATIONS WHERE THERE ARE TWO SWITCHES HOOKED INTO ONE LIGHT FIXTURE. I HAVE DEDUCED WHERE ALL OF THE WIRES ARE COMING FROM BUT DON'T KNOW HOW TO HOOK THEM BACK UP. THERE ARE THREE WIRES RAN UP TO THE FIXTURE IN THE CEILING, TWO ARE LEGS FROM THE SWITCHES AND ONE IS A LEG FROM THE POWER SOURCE. TO CLARIFY; EACH LEG INVOLVES THREE WIRES IN ITSELF, A BLACK WIRE, A WHITE WIRE, AND A BARE COPPER WIRE, THE GROUND. IF SOMEONE WOULD BE SO KIND AS TO TELL ME THE PROPPER WAY TO WIRE THIS SITUATION IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

I interpret your situation as follows: You have a ceiling box with three black wires, three white wires, and three bare wires. Is this correct? And I assume you are asking how to make connections at the ceiling, not at the switches. Is this correct too?

Please help us out by also identifying the wiring you you see at each of the two the switches.
