Type 2 Surge use on a 240V motor?

I want to protect some electronics that control a pool pump motor using a type 2 sy-com protector but these seem to be for panel mount application?
Can I mount direct to the 240V feed to the motor? Will that protect things?
Thanks

First, be aware than some Sycom surge protectors have been recalled, so you should check if yours is one of them.

You would be better off choosing a surge protector that is more closely matched to the voltage and current used by your pool pump controller. Using a protector designed for a service entrance panel will not provide the best protection possible for your controller.

If you give us some pictures of your controller and how it is mounted and wired, and the make/model of the equipment, we can provide better guidance.

The motor doesn't need protection... possibly just the controller.
