Is there a device to locate/help with wire fishing?

I was wondering if there is a device that I can put in a spot/wall of a room and in the basement I can locate exactly where that location is so I can rout my wire to that spot.

An easy way is to use a 1/8" extra long bit and drill through the floor.
It's best to remove the baseboard first or drill very close to the outside edge of the wall.
Stick a wire/coat hanger through the hole and measure your cable hole from there.

You can use a wire coat hanger in a drill, cut it about 10" on an angle and drill down next to the baseboard.

Caution if you have carpet pull it back before drilling. The carpet pile tends to wrap around the drill bit if you try to drill through the carpet.

Here's a hint.... if you need to drill thru carpet.... run the drill in reverse until the edge of the bit is thru the carpet. I used this method exclusively in cars too.

Take a toner/tracer and throw a length of romex/speaker wire/network cable - pretty much anything. Put the end of the wire where you need the hole, and trace where it is from the other side.

For rewiring my upstairs bedrooms: I took about 4 feet of romex, taped it to a broom handle (like a long antenna), and connected the toner to it, and had a helper hold it above the electrical boxes at the corner where the wall meets the ceiling. I then went into the attic with the tracer, find the spot, and drill an inch over into the stud space. Worked pretty slick!

I picked up this model - works good enough for me at home. https://www.amazon.com/Extech-TG20-W...ner+electrical

If it's carpet, drive a nail thru, pull it when you're done..
