Outlet controlled by thermostat.

I have a question. Could I connect a 120v wall thermostat for a baseboard heater to control an outlet? I have an electric oil filled radiator style heater, but it doesn't have a thermostat. Just on/off hi/low etc. I would leave the heater on but would like the thermostat to power the outlet only when the room is heating debuts off the outlet when the room is up to temp. I know I could just get a baseboard heater, but I have all the materials already on hand and was curious if it would work. Thank you

Yes you can, but I strongly recommend against using a space heater unattended. A baseboard heater is the right way to do it.
