Pond Fountain motor replacement

I'm replacing both failed motors on my pond fountain. Both motors are spliced to the power line using a bus contained in an electrical box, filled with a clear gelatin substance. I've removed all the filling and connected the wiring for the new motors. What is the name of this filling product that was in the electrical box?

That is usually called a potting compound. Normally once poured and hardened.... are virtually impossible to remove.

This is one type I've used in pool work... a little pricey...

The only time a box should be potted is if it's submerged under water.

The stuffing was soft and i was able to remove it all with a screwdriver.

Multiple outlets dead in different rooms -- no GPCI outlet?

Recently I changed an outlet in my master bedroom, replacing it with a new outlet that has 360-degree rotating plugs to better fit a portable A/C unit for my bedroom. Shortly thereafter I noticed an outdoor outlet went dead right next to my master bedroom, which exits out to my deck. Two weeks later I woke up to discover the outlet I replaced is dead. My kitchen lights are also dead, as is an outlet downstairs in my basement. All other outlets are working fine. I searched high and low, including exterior outlets and my garage, to find a GPCI outlet that has test/rest buttons. I can't find any. I do see on my breaker box what appears to be a GFCI breaker with a "Push to test" button. This breaker is tied to all my bathroom lights and outlets. Turning it off shuts off power to all my bathrooms. When I hit "push to test," the breaker flips to "tripped" and will not go to "on." But when I switch the breaker to "off" and then back to "on" it stays on and my bathrooms have power again. This doesn't fix at all the main problem which is multiple dead outlets. I have tried flipping all my breakers off, then on, with no effect. My house was built in 1981 so there is likely no more than 1 GFCI outlet, but I simply can't find it. Unless it's in a crawlspace or something. Is it possible that there is no GFCI receptacle, just the GFCI breaker? Any ideas before I call in an electrician? Currently, I have vanity bath lights on one circuit and ventilation fan on another. If it appears unlikely to cause an overload, would it be acceptable to replace the ventilation fan with a fan/light unit in circuit with two other recessed lights? Or does the fan/light need to remain separate from the vanity lights and proposed recessed lights? Thank you!Read More
