Lightbulb

I need help installing this Halogen Ceiling Fixture.

I first installed a Commercial Electric Multi-Function dimmer switch which says it's for use with Low Voltage Transformers. I then installed the light fixture and am unable to get it to light.

I've taken a voltage measurement with the switch on at the light and it's 120 volts so I know it's getting power. During jostling the switch around the first time the light came on a couple times so I thought it might have been a shorted connection, so I've exchanged the light and have not gotten any further with the new one.

I've also switched out lamps, just to make sure it wasn't that.

I'd appreciate any help you can offer.

You may be in the dimmed down position on that dimmer.

If not advise removing the dimmer, installing a normal light switch, then test lighting to see if it works. Then if still not working, test for 120 volts on the primary of the transformer. If 120 volts then test for voltage on the secondary at the output of the transformer, probably anywhere from 16 to 24 volts depending on the rating of the transformer. If you have voltage there, remove one of the light fixtures and hook it up directly on the output of the transformer. If you have voltage and no light try another light fixture of the series. If no light there take the whole thing back and get a whole new set up.

If you get the lighting to work without the dimmer then try reinstalling hte dimmer.

Let us know what you find.

Good luck

I hard wired the circuit together and the light came on. After doing that I reinstalled the switch, and it worked fine. Guess it was just a bad connection.

Thanks for the reply.
