Soffit Lighting

Hi I am wiring soffit lighting using 14-3 wire for one of the lights (5 total) . This will be at the corner of the house, (these lights are LED 9 watts FYI. ) I choose 14-3 because I also wanted to put an outlet for a security camera. The soffit lights will be on a switch. My question is can I use the red wire for hot from the 14-3 and use the same common as my soffit lights? Also the other wires will be 14-2 for the other 4 lights.

Yes, that is how it is commonly done. While code is moot on which (hot) wire color is used for a switched wire general convention is red is switched black is constant when using cable.
