Solar powered walkway lights

When the cheap solar powered stick-in-the-ground walkway lights quit working, is it usually because the batteries have been discharged/recharged to death, or the solar cells "expire"? Or other...?

Usually the batteries are spent. You can buy replacements, but they're usually not much cheaper than new lights.

Those lights are throw away, not a question of if, but when they fail. Save money and install some real lights and keep the landfill empty!

So my lady friend lives in a condo and she has lost all power except for overhead lights. She said she checked breaker box and nothing flipped and no gfi switch flipped either, This is a 200+ unit 18 story condo place....any ideas?Read More

Unsure if Outlet is Grounded (weird tester results)

I’ve got a strange situation. I’ve just moved in to a rented room inside of a house that was built in 1962. My room has two pairs of three pronged outlets, and I have two Belkin surge protectors plugged into each outlet. BOTH of my surge protectors have a red “not grounded” light on. I wanted to test the outlets before I spoke to the land lord, so I bought this device from Amazon. The red light is dim, but I am 100% sure it is lighting up. Though I admit, it does get brighter if I test the GFCI button (they aren't GFCI outlets, but I pressed the GFCI test button by accident). The two orange lights are bright. Two orange lights and NO red light means correct, but what does two orange lights and one dim red light mean? Do any experts know what this result means?
