Air conditioner electrical connection
Hello:
Just prior to the AC turning on, there is a loud buzzing sound that comes from the conduit that leads to the unit. The conduit is in my basement, attached to the ceiling joist. It sounds like the electrical wire is briefly vibrating in the conduit when it starts, making the noise. Any suggestions on how I can eliminate the vibration (assuming that's what is happening)? Alternatively, is there a different kind of conduit I can use?

When a heavy current is drawn thru a wire..... it sets up a weak magnetic field. Since the power is AC.... that magnetic field changes 60 times a second. The wire is being drawn towards and repelled from the steel conduit.
You could turn the power to the condensor off and at either end..... panel or disconnect.... try pulling the bundle of wires just slightly. You want to put tension on the wires so that they change location in the pipe. That may be all it needs as the wires get repostioned. If it's a long run... it may be tough to pull.
