Guage of wire for T8 tombstones
I am rewiring old fixtures for LED and have to swap out shunted to non-shunted tombstones. My old tombstones are wired with a solid aluminum wire.
I have 2 bulbs in each fixture and since they are wired on one side, I wanted to daisy chain the 2 non-shunted tombstones in parallel and then splice it to the inbound 110V coming into the fixture.
The new Leviton 13180-U tombstones call for 18AWG - but everything I read says that 18AWG is used primarily for 24v/48v applications and that's really my worry.
Can I safely use 18AWG wire to run 110v into and between the tombstones?
Thanks.

Welcome to the forums.
The fixture wire is #18 but the insulation is special high heat type and is allowed to be used in those types of fixtures.
If you used generic wiring you would need #14 THHN solid.
What happened to the old wiring..... or the wire from an old ballast.
That's what I use.

thanks for the info, that's what I needed/ The old ballast wire is all bent and looped and I wanted to pre-wire on the ground and just swap out the tombstones. There is a big price difference in the single vs 2 sided tubes, otherwise i could keep with the old tombstones and just cut out the ballast..
