Question DC Motor, Stator Windings Wrap?

Rebuilding a 12vdc motor, wiper motor from 69 Charger. The motor has a pair of stator windings that are wrapped in a paper/fabric type insulating material (pic). Can anyone tell me what this material is and where I can find some to rewrap the windings.

If it has fabric, it is probably mica insulating tape. There are also paper insulation tape. I don't think you can by them in small quantity. Unless you have to unwind all the copper, just fix it with kapton tape here than there. Kapton tape is high temperature tape and higher quality than paper tape. Regular masking tape might work fine for just holding winding together.

I'm rewrapping the windings only because I have to add new wire sleeves to the stator wires and the sleeves are inside the wrapping. Guess I could just cut the existing wrap to access the sleeved wires, add new sleeves, then finish with a couple wraps of Kapton to seal the cut.

I think I used packing tape once. The type with the filaments? Worked fine as I remember.
