Installing a New Outlet Box
I want to hang a TV on a wall at about eye height.. The wall is a studded exterior wall that has access from above where I can get the wiring and coax down. I know to hang the TV mount to the studs and my question is what is the proper way to affix the boxes for the electricity and cable?
Thanks for the help.

Use a combo electric and low voltage box. It mounts between the wall studs. The one in the link is from amazon. Depot has a similar type..... a little less money. They come as a complete kit with the receptacle. The electric is contained in its own junction box.

They are old work. You locate the two studs and cut a hole between them.
It has wings that hold it in place.
They are good to use when you are using a non articulating TV mount. That style mount keeps the TV close to the wall and little room to plug in. I can plug in the TV and an AC adapter.
This is the link for the other model. This one is less expensive. I put a piece of foam in the cable opening to keep the cold air out.
