Voltage Meter mounting location

I have a portable generator that I use for emergency backup wired into my breaker panel.

I have two meters that I would like to install into my breaker panel cover that will monitor voltage, Hz and watts from the generator. See attached photo of proposed location.

My question is if I mount the meters in the proposed location will I be violating any codes?

Any information/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks to all.

Modifying the panel cover is not suggested. The meters should go in a separate encloser next to the panel.

That is sort of what I was thinking also, but wanted to try to go the path with the least resistance first. Thank you for your input, it's appreciated
