NM Jacket Stripped Too Far

I was replacing a switch for my dining room chandelier. This was the first time that I had been in this box, and I realized that it was overstuffed. I was in the process of replacing it with a larger box, and I noticed the one of the incoming NM jackets is stripped too far. The jacket is still in place, but it's ripped 3" above where the cable enters. I can't move the switch that high, unfortunately. Are there are any acceptable methods to fix this? Is taping with white electrical tape an option, or is that not allowed? Worst case scenario, I could put a junction box on the opposite side of the wall. It's where my office is, so at least it would be concealed.

Hi, replace as much of the sheath as possible then retape with black electrical tape and you will be fine.
