How do I wire the Wemo Dimmer Wi-Fi Light Switch?

I just purchased the Wemo Dimmer Wi-Fi Light Switch. It has red, green, white, and black wires. In my existing switch, it has white, ground and black wires. The switch has both silver screws and a ground only. Both the white and black wires connect to the silver screws on the switch. So when I got the Wemo Dimmer Wi-Fi Light Switch, I connect the black to the black, white to the white, and green to the ground. I just capped off the red wire on the Wemo Dimmer Wi-Fi Light Switch. The switch is unable to turn on my light. Any suggestion is much appreciated.

You have a switch loop there. Power/hot comes to that switch on the white wire from the light. Then it returns switched to the light on the black wire. There is no neutral there.

Since the Wemo requires a neutral....... it cannot be used there.

This what you have ...........

So, if I have to redo the whole wiring, the hot, neutral, and ground would have to come to the switch first and from there it goes to the light, correct?

Correct, additional wiring would need to be run to use that switch.

Thanks, PJmax, I learned so much from you. I got it working now by rewiring the receptacle so that it has a neutral line.
