Whats the best way to remove the jacket or cover from #6 UF-B wire. It's the molded gray cover and is very hard. I'm afaird to cut into the wires insulation trying to remove it so I can work with it in the breaker box.

There is no good easy way to strip the outer sheath of a UF cable. I usually use a box knife and carefully slice the plastic from the cable along the outside edge, deep enough to get close to the insulated wire found inside but careful not to slice into the insulation of that wire itself. Once I have sliced away the thin plastic on the edge of that cable, I take a pair of pliers, grab the wire end and pull hard pulling the wire out of the sliced area of the cable. Once I have pulled out the insulated wires, I slice a ring around the bare wire and pull it longways off the bare conductor.

Have patience it is not an easy chore.

Good Luck
