Ok to attach blue ceiling box to bottom of joist?
I replaced some metal ceiling junction boxes with ceramic pull chain lights and rewired part of a circuit in the basement which is unfinished. I "accidentally" installed the plastic ceiling boxes to the bottom underside of the joists with screws like the metal ones were installed before.
Is this ok or do I have to mount them on the side of the joist with the 2 nails?

You should have nailed onto thenside. The box listing is for the proper attachment method as designed . Metal boxes are different

Thanks guys. I can't move the boxes due to already cutting slack out of the run, etc. Also, they are in places where there are already wires running on the sides of the joists and not much room.
What I've decided to due is just replace the plastic boxes with metal ceiling boxes and leave them mounted to the bottom of the joist and call it a day.
