I don’t have my NEC yet, still waiting on it to be delivered.

We just went over the American Wire Gauge(AWG) in class. What I’m wondering is what kind of wire can I use to run from my house to my shed? So I can finally get some lighting in there. Also there is PVC coming through the ground what type of wire can be used? If I can run wire safely through PVC without burning it up or would that be a code violation?

How far to the shed. Are you just going to run a 120v/20a circuit? What kind of PVC and how deep?

If a complete conduit system you can use individual wires of type THHN/THWN.

It needs to be electrical PVC which is gray, not plumbing PVC which is other colors.

Non metallic, The color is gray. That's a plus. The length to the shed is 25ft. THHN/THWN can be used in a wet location? I am assuming anything going underground in a pipe would be a wet location?

Any conduit outside is considered a wet location .

THHN/THWN can be used in wet areas.
