Replace main electrical panel

I have very old (circa 1950s) electrical panel with 12 fuses. A separate panel has been added with 8 circuit breakers. I want to replace both with up to date panels and circuit breakers. Anyone care to give me a very rough estimate of what this may cost me? I will be hiring an electrician to do this work.

thanks

There are too many variables to give a price without seeing the job.

Without even seeing it I can tell you need more than a panel change. A 1950s vintage service will need updated meter socket, service entrance wiring and grounding too. You are looking at a full service change. Assuming a 100 amp service, there would be a wide range between lowest and highest prices. I'd suggest you get a licensed electrical contractor to take a look.
