Wiring a GE combination wall oven/microwave

Hey guys, I just installed this unit in my kitchen remodel and wanted to double check my thoughts regarding wire and breaker size. Based on the product description, I believe I need a 40 amp dbl pole breaker and 8/3 wire. The unit is (at most) 65 feet from the panel. Is the equipment I listed above sufficient and does 8/3 need to be run inside conduit?
Thanks very much in advance.
Peter

The unit needs a 40 amp 120/240 volt.circuit feed by #8 .

If the cable is subject to damage it would need protection.
