Tying light fixture from attic into outlet downstairs...

Can someone guide me (preferably with an illustration or specific video) so that I can tie that romex into the outlet (as seen in the attached photo)?

I want to learn this stuff.

To learn basic home wiring there is no better source than a $10 book called "Wiring Simplified". It covers both the "how" and "why" as well as any safety concerns. It will be well worth your time and money.

For this specific case, where is the receptacle and where does the other end of the romex go?

At the other end of the romex is a basic light fixture just like this: http://childsafetyusa.info/wp-conten...ain-switch.jpg

The receptacle is in the basement (shown in the picture).

White to silver. Black to brass. Bare to receptacle ground screw or if metal box pigtail to receptacle ground and box grond.
