Both lights on on Ground fault outlet
I think lightening struck the ground fault outlet my pool pump is plugged into. The green light is on but the red light is flashing and I cannot reset it. I replaced the outlet but the new one is doing the same thing. Green light on, red light flashing. This is without the pump plugged in. I have also reset the breaker multiple times.
Ideas????
Thanks

Have you pressed the test button and then the reset button? Flashing red is usually a first powered up test and turns off when reset. If the red continues to flash and you can not reset means you have a defective GFCI outlet. What brand is it?
Edit: Are there any other GFCI outlets up stream? Check connections up stream.

Sometimes it requires the use of something like the eraser end of a pencil to push the reset button in.

Ok here is what I found and it makes no sense to me. First I tried to reset the outlet but it would not reset.
With the outlet hooked up I get a very dim green light and a dim flickering red light. However when I touch a test light to the black and white poles I get no voltage to light up the test light. I also tried the test light on just the bare wires without the outlet wired in and still nothing.
I verified that the test light was working on another outlet.
Problem with the breaker?????

Lightning went down the wires to a junction box where I had the wires joined together. The wires and connectors were all melted. I cut the fried wires back and reconnected everything and now my outlets work.
Now the question is why has lightning struck this one outlet twice now? I have the copper ground wires hooked up.
Thanks
