So, are you looking for a switch or a solenoid? Whichever, both are available in normally open and normally closed configurations. Your local auto parts store may not stock a NC solenoid so you'll probably have to order it.

Sounds more like you are looking for a relay. Look to the Bosh style relay. As a mobile electronics installer in the past..... I'd buy these relays in boxes of 100.

The relay is a 12vdc SPDT and handles 30amps. That means it's triggered by 12vdc and has a normally open and a normally closed contact. Your project requires the normally closed contact. They are available in most auto parts stores. They may not carry the Bosch name but be a similar product. You can use 1/4" slides directly on the relay or purchase the socket and wire kit.

If you want/need 100% reliability...... use only the Bosch brand relay. Otherwise there are many generic lookalikes at considerably lower prices. Look around in the link below.... many choices available.

would also use a 5 pin relay not sure what your trying to hookup or why you would need to use the relay to be open when the relay is energized though that seems backwards.
